With a career spanning fifty years, John Wayne is one of the most iconic and controversial movie stars in cinematic history.
I was privileged to sit with host Mark “the Movieman” Krawczyk in examining the Duke’s last film, THE SHOOTIST, directed by Don Siegel. It was not meant to be Wayne’s swan song, but the film wound up being an appropriate eulogy for the man and the type of hero he portrayed. On this episode, we explore the various facets of this film as well as the overpowering iconic stature of John Wayne, a man’s whose politics may have been at odds with some of us, but who nevertheless came to represent something greater.
