Smelly Cowboys and Hairy Millennials: Astro Radio Z Finishes Off the HOWLING Franchise

howling8_sex

Every year, Derrick Carey’s Astro Radio Z podcast looks at an entire film franchise from beginning to end on a multi-episode journey through that series’ evolution or degradation. In 2014, they looked at all 13 WITCHCRAFT films (and three more have been filmed since then, so expect a follow-up episode someday). In 2015, it was Rick Sloane’s VICE ACADEMY series, in which I was a bit nicer to the movies than the rest of the crew. And in 2016, the focus shifted towards the HOWLING films.

I admit it. This was done months ago and because I took an extended break from Moviocrity, I neglected to post the final installment of the series. But hopefully you’ll enjoy this final installment in Astro Radio Z’s series.

In this episode, we look at Clive Turner’s magnum opus, HOWLING: NEW MOON RISING, an absolutely insane film that just sort of meanders around, causing the panal to scratch their heads. Then, it’s onto 2011’s THE HOWLING REBORN, an attempt to reboot the franchise for a teen audience.

I was joined by Angelique Bone, Glenn Randall Buettner, Shane Carey, Mark “the Movie Man” Krawczyk, Seth Poulin, Andrew Shearer and of course host, Derrick Carey.

As always, you can listen to the episode in traditional MP3 format or catch it on YouTube.

And if you’re feeling really adventurous, you can check out the entire HOWLING Megacut, featuring all three podcasts looking at all eight movies!

And be sure to check out all of Carey’s other shows at Astro Radio Z.
